Key People

Shane McSweeney

General Manager and Technical Director – Urban Water Management

Shane has over 16 years of applied environmental science and hydrological engineering experience in urban water management, water sensitive urban design (WSUD), flood studies, groundwater and surface water modelling, optimisation of fill requirements in urban developments in shallow water table areas, hydrogeological investigations and assessments, environmental risk assessment, wastewater disposal options assessment, and water supply options assessment including alternative water supply options such as sub-soil harvesting and wastewater reuse schemes. Shane looks to partner with clients to deliver practical solutions to water management issues.

Shane is currently providing hydrological input into large residential and industrial developments across WA. His focus is to provide innovative approaches to water management focusing on cost reduction through fill optimisation coupled with an environmentally sustainable outcome. He is also exploring alternate water supply options for areas of the Swan Coastal Plain currently without sufficient groundwater allocation to sustain traditional urban public open space within developments.

Ron Colman

Technical Director – Mine Water Management

Ron is a practical hydrogeologist with over 35 years’ groundwater resource development and management experience for mining, municipal, commercial, horticultural and industrial clients. Ron has a reputation for big picture thinking and for providing pragmatic water management solutions incorporating applied principles of hydrogeology, geology and engineering.

His extensive experience in both the public and private sector, including significant Pilbara projects, relates to projects involving small to large scale water supply development from groundwater resources, mine dewatering and excess water disposal, regional hydrogeological investigations and overall mine groundwater management, licensing, and compliance reporting. Ron has worked as a consultant, inhouse specialist hydrogeologist and mine water manager, and studies leader within government. He has experience at every stage of the project life-cycle and can provide that experience and insight to projects
